This morning started bright and early for our delegates at OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg. After some enthusiastic introductions and excited chatter, delegates received complimentary jackets, t-shirts and caps from Cathay Pacific which the young people eagerly received. Snack packs were provided for the long trip ahead but just to get things going, an ice-breaker called Birds of a Feather was enjoyed by all.

Random groups were created and delegates had to find unusual things that everyone in the group had in common. Some of the strange things that connect these seemingly vastly different people were the ability to curl their tongues; all had red somewhere in their flags; they all take pleasure in singing in the bathroom and have at least one friend on “MySpace”, to name but a few.

The bus trip itself was a long, slow one but fortunately it allowed for all those who were exhausted from their flights to catch up on some much-needed sleep and for others to sing songs and enjoy each other’s company.
